Explosive Video Evidence and Stand Your Ground Dismissal Put Major Franchise and Landlord on the Defensive

Pinal County, Arizona — Recording artist and CEO of Southside Recordz ~ (THE CONGLOMERATE), Edward Rawlinson (professionally known as DJ Killa Karolina), is refusing to back down in his high-stakes civil lawsuit against J & J Arizona, LLC and Mindies Eloy/Casa Grande, Inc., the entities behind the Burger King restaurant in Eloy, Arizona.

In a case that continues to gain momentum, Rawlinson has filed damning surveillance footage and body camera evidence that directly contradicts the narrative pushed by Burger King employees and management on February 23, 2023 — the day he was allegedly assaulted at the Burger King Restaurant and subsequently wrongfully arrested.

Court records show that Rawlinson has submitted complete exterior and interior surveillance videos (Exhibits N and O) along with law enforcement body camera footage (Exhibit N-1). These videos reportedly show the assault starting outside the restaurant, Rawlinson acting in self-defense, and — most critically — Burger King employees and management failing to call 911 while allegedly feeding misleading information to law enforcement.

 Even more damaging for the defense is the fact that Rawlinson’s criminal case (CR202300611) was dismissed on September 6, 2023, after he filed a Motion to Dismiss citing Arizona’s Stand Your Ground law. The Pinal County Superior Court granted that motion, effectively validating that Rawlinson was the non-aggressor in the confrontation.

Despite suffering from permanent physical and psychological disabilities stemming from the February 23, 2023 assault at the Burger King Restaurant, Rawlinson has aggressively prosecuted this case pro se, filing extensive medical documentation, business damages, and objective video evidence that paints a disturbing picture of alleged concealment and misrepresentation by both the franchise operator and the property owner.

J & J Arizona, LLC, the landlord that owns the building, and Mindies Eloy/Casa Grande, Inc., the franchise operator, are both named as defendants in the newly filed (First Amended Complaint). Rawlinson’s legal team argues that both entities share responsibility — one for controlling the premises and surveillance system, and the other for the day-to-day operations and employee conduct.

The case has drawn attention because it involves a disabled entrepreneur and recording artist taking on a major fast-food franchise and its landlord over allegations of a cover-up that led to his arrest and 86-day detention.
