Southside Recordz Ends Pursuit of YNW Melly Amid Arizona and Pending Florida Federal Lawsuits

Southside Recordz ~ (THE CONGLOMERATE) announced today that it is no longer pursuing any signing or partnership involving the artist known as YNW Melly.

The decision follows the Arizona lawsuit and the pending Florida federal lawsuit, along with the significant damages already suffered as a direct result of the liability of J & J Arizona, LLC, Mindies Eloy/Casa Grande, Inc., Burger King Corporation, and Restaurant Brands International in connection with the February 23, 2023 incident in Eloy, Arizona.

Southside Recordz ~ (THE CONGLOMERATE) has determined that the legal exposure, financial impact, and ongoing uncertainty created by these matters make continued pursuit of the artist incompatible with the company’s strategic and operational priorities.

The organization further stated that Lyor Cohen and others who previously backed the artist should be the parties stepping forward to provide support. In the view of Southside Recordz ~ (THE CONGLOMERATE), those who publicly aligned with and promoted the artist failed to sufficiently protect and assist him during his most vulnerable period of need.

Southside Recordz ~ (THE CONGLOMERATE) will continue to monitor the resolution of both the Arizona lawsuit and the Florida federal lawsuit. Once those matters are concluded, the company intends to add an experienced veteran female pop artist to its entertainment media music roster.
